For those with observant eye, Haringhuizen is an exceedingly idyllic spot. Situated in the shadow of Schagen and near equally beautiful Moerbeek you will find this small polder village, that consists of only one street. The hundred inhabitants are few, and yet they have four traditional village songs. Haringhuizen was built on a natural mount in the thirteenth century, when the Wadden area around Barsingerhorn slowly dried up. The Church of St. Willibrord dating from 1470 - where a wealth of cultural events take place - is the eyecatcher of this small village in the new municipality of Hollands Kroon.
During the third weekend of August, Haringhuizen takes centre stage when the Nazomeren festival is held. Over fifty garden owners, artists and hobbyists from the former municipality of Niedorp, invite everyone to admire their creations.
